Welcome to the international Comenius project, "Nice to meet you"

Starting from the ancient times people always wanted to get to know what is there behind a horizon. Is there any who speaks in your language, lives the same life as you. The year’s pass and the curiosity grow and people want to meet each other. It is the best thing in the world to make friends in so different countries, to get more information about culture, about traditions, about living conditions and moral values, about great national scholar. Variety of all European Union countries, their differences and similarities show us how rich we are, how nice is to meet, to live together in our world. It makes us more open-minded and can understand each other very well.

OBJECTIVES:

1) Promote tolerant attitudes to other cultures and languages;

2) develop communication skills and tolerant attitude to other cultures and languages, increase our students` and teachers` interest and knowledge about other countries and their people;

3) improve the knowledge of the English language as the common language in the project, broaden mutual understanding and collaboration between students and teachers from different countries living together in EU;

4) Develop new skills – film making, screen writing, acting, versification and composing, using of light and sound equipment, creative group work, information look out and processing;

5) Develop cultural and historical topics through creative writing from our students’ reality;

6) Learn different aspects of other EU nations, such as points of view, values, history, culture, traditions, geographical situation, and language;

7) Involve in project activities students of different age with the different interests and teach them to work together in a creative group to reach the aims of the project.

8) To improve the knowledge of different school systems

All the partners are equal and agree on the general aims on the activities of the project.

At first a special basic team will be founded to implement our project work and to realize the end product – a video film. The students from all the partner countries will be involved in different activities in the sight of their coordinators.

The first step – each school will collect all information about their country, town, school and national hero / it may be historical or literary/. The whole summarize of all information will be put on the web site.

The second step – each school will toss up the country and its hero, who will travel around the foreign country trying to find similarities and well known things, familiar names, traditions and features in culture, traditions, architecture, language, in thinking and history, in people appearance, clothing and behaviour.

For example: Cyprus toss up Czech Republic and its hero Golem. Cyprian students will travel with Golem through Cyprus trying to find similarities with Czech Republic.

During working on the second step school teams consult each other and exchange with different information, help each other to find more interesting themes and communicate very much, send extra information and pictures, try to find people living in other countries, interview them, try to contact ambassadors.

Production of a common questionnaire about tolerant attitudes.

The third step: each school write the script of their film, prepare everything for filming, and make a video film.

The fourth step: we are making our end products - a video film / join all the made films together /and common questionnaires report.

PARTNER SCHOOLS

Latvia -Gaismas tilts`97:coordination of the project - follow and ascertain all planned activities to be done; ascertain that e-mails of all the partner schools are working correctly /every month/ to be sure that they can get the whole information about the project work to coordinate communication between all the partner schools to be ready; to make the end product – a video film; website, organize the 1st meeting.

Czech Republic-Základní škola Praha 7, Letohradská 1: organization the 2nd meeting, making website

Cyprus-Α Demotiko Sxoleio Xylofagou: organization of the 3rd meeting, prepare recommendations to improve a perfect run of the project work. Responsible for the website.

Poland-Szkoła Postawowa nr 18: organization of the 4th meeting

Netherlands-Openbare basisschool De Octopus: produce of a common questionnaire and report, evaluation form, monitoring the working progress

FINAL RESULTS

Project final result is CD film, called “Nice to meet you!” The film will show cultural, historical and mental values of different people from different countries from the youth point of view.
